This time of year means Family. The gifts are really the extra, to me anyway.
Growing up, I didn’t have much but I always had what I needed. I remember getting things I really truly wanted on Christmas and I remember not getting much of what I wanted but I appreciated all of my gifts, regardless.
Today, I raise my babies to have the same view. Like, I don’t wanna raise a jerk kid that’s spoiled and treats people like crap for not getting a fingerling monkey.
My kids get what they need and have some of what they want but, they know they gotta work for it. They have to have manners, love and most of all, respect for others.
My kids aren’t perfect, far from it actually and I’d be lying if I told you otherwise. But, what I do know is that they don’t get disappointed this time of year when there aren’t many “best ever” gifts under the tree. Either they took after me or they know that my presence is better then any present. Ha, either way, this whole Christmas spirit I see from some parents at the mall has gotta go. Like, fighting over a finger monkey or an “animal” that comes out of an $80 egg. You’re better off buying your kid a real chicken. It’ll last longer and it can probably learn tricks before a toy.
My kids have toys, including those stupid little egg things, so again..not calling out any parents who get their kids these things – just trying to say that this shit is pointless in the future. You’re going to go out of your way to fight another parent for a toy, an object that won’t mean anything to them around this time next year, I guarantee it! Just saying, No judgement. Happy hunting parents.
Think before you fight! 😁
